George Follmer’s 1963 Lotus-Porsche won the 1965 USRRC championship against competition from big-block Chaparrals, Lolas and other makes The Lotus 23, upgraded to “B” specs in 1965 was powered by a 2.0-liter Porsche 904 engine and clinched the championship at the 500-mile USRRC finale at Elkhart Lake, Wisconson.
